      WORRIED?

Ah, it was like Nevy to worry, but it didn’t matter how well she explained her reasons, he somehow always came out confused. With his bag on the table, and the flap open, he paused the search for his sandwich and observed her from beneath dark eyelashes.

“Do something?” He inquired, mocking the intensity she’d used. “Why do you make it sound like that? She’s trying to be my friend, not take me around a corner to stick a knife in my back.” He withdrew the square, plastic container holding his lunch from his bag and then pushed the bag off to the side. “For as long as I’ve known Fira, I can’t fathom why you’d believe otherwise.”

He was oblivious to the deeper emotions brewing within Fira’s end of the friendship, if any truly existed.

He peeled the lid off the plastic container, pulled either sleeve of his shirt back, and reached for his sandwich. And that’s when he spoke without thinking his words over. They just slipped right from his mouth.

      “You sound jealous, you know?”

There’s a tinge of rage deep inside the floating aquatic, one that begins to bubble and brew to the surface with a scowl on her once pretty face. Now it was filled with disdain and outright scorn to her host whom so casually pointed out her flaw – one she was willing to ignore and pretend never existed.

“I don’t sound any particular way, Gev
You just don’t understand women–or me.”

Perhaps it was a light jab at his tunnel vision in regards to the heart, persons or even his own beliefs. But she didn’t need to get into specifics, all she had to do was wait for Gev to make his own conclusions, and play off that insecure thought or worried tone

                        She just had to wait.

  pst nevy and gev?

hislethargy-blog-deactivated201:

Who is more affectionate?

Nevyyy. And she is not afraid to show it either. She will flaunt their relationship out in the open all day, e’rryday.

Who angers the easiest?

Nevy, especially when she senses a potential threat, be it out of wariness or jealousy and Gev is always there to reassure her she is his number one.

Who is the one too drunk to drive home?

GEVVV. And Nevy would be so mad at him, too. Telling him that it’s too dangerous to be drinking the whole ride home, meanwhile he’s only half aware of what’s going on and all slumped in the passenger seat regretting his life decisions and mumbling apologies and she just, “NO. I’M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET. LIKE I HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED TBH.”

Who’s the one bandaging the other after a fight?

Nevy’s bandaging Gev and honestly he does not ever try to resist her because she will have her pumpkin’s wound wrapped one way or another and he’d rather not make her aggressive about it, lol.

Who is the one to pull the other to try new things? Like the weird restaurant down the street or skydiving.

Neither?? ?? ? I feel like they would have a routine they follow religiously and that would be staying indoors and devoting themselves to one another as often as possible. SHOT DEAD FOR A DAMN PUN.

Who is the driving/riding shotgun?

Gev doesn’t like driving. Nevy would def be driving and no this has nothing to do with that one time he drank.

Who has the weirder taste in music?

Gev. And honestly, it probably weirds Nevy out but you know what she’s still enthusiastic when he wants to show her a favorite song of his and you better believe she’d ask, “do you want to listen to it again” when it was over beCAUSE SHE IS THE SWEETEST FISH BABY IN THE WORLD.

Who tears up during Titanic movies?

NEVY. AND SHE WOULD TRY TO HIDE IT FROM HIM. AND SAY STUFF LIKE, “NO I AM NOT CRYING OVER SOME SILLY MOVIE HAHAH A YOU’RE CRAZY AND SEEING THINGS AND STOP LOOKING AT M E LIKE THAT I’M NOT CRYING U ASSHAT.”

Gev

Gev, once staring out the office window and into the waiting room at no one in particular, is now face-to-face with the figment of his own imagination. He was visibly deflated by Nevy’s persistence and perhaps defeated by the time she’d poked his nose and inquired about whether or not he liked having her around.

He didn’t admit to it on a daily basis, but he did enjoy having her with him. She was nice company, and a good friend. He wouldn’t have made it this far without her, truthfully. And whenever he was feeling down, whether it was about himself or another subject, she always knew what to say in order to make him feel better.

Nevy was certainly no burden, but all the same, her attachment to his being wasn’t requested either. Gev had absolutely no saying whenever fate decided to join them together, and for that, he sometimes came off distant toward his aquatic companion.

With an audible sigh, he suddenly pushed himself up and out of his chair. He then reached for his bag and threw it over his shoulder. “I’m going to lunch,” He said to Fira beside him. “Alone, i-if you don’t mind… I just… have some things I need to think about.”

Fira said she understood, but she looked disappointed. Gev was growing more and more distant, as of late… But he refused to explain the reason behind it, for how did one make sense of a creature only they could see?? It would sound crazy and the last thing he needed was TITAN to believe he had a lunatic among his supreme ranks.

Later, when he was away from the office and in solitude within the city, he took a seat at a public outdoor table, dropping his bag down. His eyes closed, he suddenly said, “For the record, I do like having you around, but didn’t we agree you’d leave my work alone?” Out to nothing but air, it would seem, should anyone look over at the boy who sat “alone”.

A silent war won on her behalf, with glee filling the depths of her stomach when he stood and announced his immediate leave to take lunch. Despite Fira’s obvious dislike of not being invited with him, enough that made his demon look on with scorn. She had him the entire day! Why would she need to eat with him as well?

With a graceful twist, the Covetess swam through the air just behind Gev and occasionally in front of him; dipping through doors and watching with big curious eyes, one’s that looked ready to cry. He didn’t look too happy with her needy behavior, in fact, he looked a bit exhausted

image

In one breath her fears were abolished with his reassurance that he did enjoy her company, yet did give a slight scolding to her pestering him during hours of work; the most dangerous of times to have him being distracted or having him speak to himself. But could he really blame her? A world of silence where only one person could speak to her? That knew she existed once? It was near maddening being stuck in this limbo, in this colorless world

image

“I know I said I wouldn’t bother you at work, but I got worried. That woman was talking to you a lot, asking about you wanting to go somewhere after work. It really scared me, Gev, because then I wouldn’t be able to be with you then – not really. Honestly, I think she’s trying to do something.…”

Nevy was no fool, she knew exactly what Fira was aiming for; they’d been working together for a long time, and knew each other even longer still when they were children. The affections of a young woman for a young man weren’t uncommon, but she’d be damned if someone tried to take Gev from her.

                        She had to protect him

hislethargy:

He was. Oh, he was, but he was doing everything in his power to ignore her; at least until he and Fira will have finished with the latest recruitment. So, typing furiously, he pretended as if he didn’t currently have someone looming from above him and blowing bubbles in his direction (as a sort of distraction, no doubt).

                                    Always the persistent, Nevy was.

image

      “That ought to do it.”

He said finally. But not in response to the scaled beauty; rather, to the recently approved recruit of TITAN’s army. With a small grin, he handed Jax his official papers and sent him on his way; Fira congratulating the man from beside Gev.

And Gev still wasn’t acknowledging the floating Covetess, even after the fact.

image

A few bubbles left her lips while her envious gaze turned ten-fold in a glare just down on his head, yet she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, they weren’t alone – his coworker was just at his side and a few TITAN followers kept coming to the window and leaving.

image

With an elegant spin, Nevy was then stretched out over Gev’s keyboard and blocked the sight of both his monitor and the window to service potential followers. With a single pink finger she poked the center of his nose, “Gev, just go on lunch already. Tell her that you’re hungry and go to lunch so we can talk.”

“I hate when you ignore me like this, Gev.
Don’t you like having me around?”

             “Gev….”

A few bubbles passed by the young man’s head, swirling and twirling around until they popped against each other, his face or head. When he continued tapping away on his keyboard, she floated over head and gave a firm glare, “…Gev, are you listening to me?”
